Kids Jiu-Jitsu Classes

Build kids confidence and discipline in a safety-focused environment! These are structured Gi based classes with a free intro session for first timers. These classes will focus on developing the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu through a thoroughly graded Jiu Jitsu Curriculum. These classes are open to all skill levels, catering to those who want to learn the basics of self-defence and improve their fitness.

Adult Jiu-Jitsu Classes

Join our Pinnacle BJJ class led by local Black Belt, Rueben McCready. Whether you’re a beginner or an elite, Rueben’s extensive background in MMA, Boxing, and BJJ will guide you on a journey into the world of martial arts and combat sports. Discover the art of grappling, ground combat, and submission holds in a supportive community setting. Reuben approaches self defence by taking participants to the ground, gaining preferred positions and using techniques to gain control and submission via locks or holds. BJJ FAQs

Who can join the BJJ program?

Our BJJ program is open to both kids (ages 5–13) and adults (ages 14+), catering to all fitness levels. Whether you’re new to BJJ or an experienced practitioner, everyone is welcome!

Pinnacle Fitness Gym membership is included only with direct debit BJJ memberships. Casual Visit passes are solely for BJJ class access.

Safety is our top priority. Our experienced instructors focus on teaching proper techniques in a controlled and supportive environment. While any physical activity carries some risk, we take every measure to minimise it. Our coaches are skilled at adapting techniques for beginners and are attentive to individual physical limits. You’ll build a solid foundation with drills before advancing to more intense training, ensuring a “walk before you run” approach.

No experience is necessary! Our classes are open to all levels, with coaches guiding you to progress at a pace that suits you.

Absolutely! BJJ is not only a fantastic way to improve overall fitness, but it also helps you develop strength, flexibility, and body control. As your skills and confidence grow, you’ll see increased conditioning benefits as well.

Learning BJJ terms like “full guard,” “half guard,” “mount,” “side control,” and “sprawl” can feel overwhelming at first, but with time, you’ll catch on! Our coaches reinforce terminology as they teach each skill and position, so it’ll soon become second nature.

Hygiene is essential for BJJ:

  • Shower before class, keep your nails neatly trimmed, cover any cuts or abrasions, and wear your hair neat and tidy.
  • Dress comfortably in fitted clothing that won’t get caught or expose the body. A rash guard or T-shirt is recommended for the top, and shorts or compression gear for the bottom.
  • All participants will need a BJJ Gi (uniform) and belt for designated Gi classes. For beginners, comfortable athletic clothing will work for the first few classes until you decide to purchase a Gi. A mouthguard is also recommended.
